LVIV AND ISRAELI JOURNALISTS SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION AT THE UNIVERSITY

The delegation of journalists from Israel visited Ivan Franko National University of Lviv on April 27, 2017. During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the history of Lviv University and the intellectual contribution into the scientific life of the University made by representatives of the Jewish nation at various times. In addition, the Memorandum of Cooperation between Israeli and Lviv journalists was signed in the Mirror Hall.

Welcoming the guests the Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk expressed the hope that members of the Israeli media will convey the truth about the events in Ukraine.

“One of the main things shared by our countries is the priority of national interest in all spheres of life, and that our countries can only rely on their own strength in the struggle for territorial integrity, peace and quiet”, said Volodymyr Melnyk.

The Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Oleg Synyutka stressed that Ukrainians carefully treat traditions of other people and respect their historical heritage. “We will be happy to see in Lviv anyone who wants to learn historical heritage of our country or the traditions of their ancestors, or just relax in our region”, said Oleg Synyutka.

The Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko stated that the greatest value of the city is its inhabitants and those who visit the city to get acquainted with its cultural heritage and modern life. “So, your arrival is a contribution to the creation of the history of our city”, said the Deputy Mayor.

“We adopt your experience of love for the state. Unfortunately, Ukraine found itself in a difficult situation: we are at war. The Memorandum that we prepared, aims at Ukrainian journalists’ bringing to you accurate information about what is happening in the country”, appealed to Israeli colleagues the Head of Lviv Regional Organization of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine Yaroslav Klymovych.

 

After welcoming words a solemn ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Lviv Regional Organization of NUJU and Israeli Association of Press took place. Under the terms of the contract, Lviv and Israeli journalists will exchange political, social, economic and tourist information, jointly participate in seminars and workshops, as well as share their professional information, academic materials, publications in areas of mutual interest.
