According to the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Lviv National University concludes the top three University-leaders among institutions of higher education of Ukraine having strengthened its positions in comparison with the last year results.
In the newest edition of the Ranking, Ternopil National Economic University, National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and the Ivan Franko Lviv National University comprise the top three leading universities. The 4th place is taken by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the 5th by Chernivtsi Medical College.
It should be reminded that «Webometrics Ranking of World Universities» is considered one of the greatest and the most well- known World rankings. Since 2004 and every 6th months a group called The Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council CSIC) carries out an independent scientific research on information about universities which is based on their web presence.
The assessment of the universities is based on the 4 main criteria:
PRESENCE – a number of pages on the websites in the main domain of the institution ( including subdomains and directories), which are identified by the search system Of Google
VISIBILITY – a number of outside resources that contain reverse links to websites of an institution – counted according to the indicators of Ahrefs and Majestic instruments;
TRANSPARENCY -a number of citations of the top authors of institution according to Google Scholar Citations
EXCELLENCE – a number of articles by the researchers of an institution which are among 10% of the most cited in 26 disciplines according to the Scimago.
