The Interfaculty laboratory of differential thermal analysis was created in accordance with the rector`s order in 2013 and is a structural unit of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The laboratory is equipped with a synchronous thermal analyzer STAPT 1600 (Germany), gas and vacuum systems, and software for processing experimental data. The unique laboratory equipment allows to conduct the following researches: differential scanning calorimetry, differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and heat capacity measurement.

The laboratory is equipped with a synchronous thermal analyzer LINSEIS STA PT1600, which allows measuring changes in heat flow and material mass in a controlled atmosphere depending on temperature or time. The obtained thermograms make it possible to distinguish between endothermic and exothermic effects unrelated to weight loss (melting and crystallization) as well as the ones related to it (chemical decomposition). Crystalline, amorphous and compact solids serve as samples for the study. Measurements are performed for groups of scientists from the faculties of natural sciences: of biology, geology, physics, chemistry, electronics and computer technologies. Since putting the laboratory into operation, a number of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermograms have been acquired for a number of chemical compounds, which have been used to establish the temperature intervals of compounds, their formation and decay temperatures, and even phase transitions (in some cases). For individual minerals, thermogravimetric curves were obtained, which determined the change in the mass of thermal transformations. Acquaintance with the general principles of a structure and work of the device is carried out for fourth-year students of the faculty of chemistry.
