SEVENTH GRADUATES OF THE SCHOOL OF GERMAN LAW

The ceremony of awarding certificates to graduates of the School of German Law, which is based on the Law Faculty of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and has already been functioning the seventh consecutive year took place on May 26, 2017 in the Mirror Hall.

The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Volodymyr Burdin welcomed the participants. In particular, he noted that the importance of the School can hardly be overestimated, as the very process of bringing Ukraine closer to international and European standards.

“European integration is taking place in various spheres and directions. Especially it is important in the context of drawing and integration of many European values ​​in our society and the state. Europe is the territory of ​​free people and they can only feel free when not being afraid to change residence, country of study to build up their career. In the world of globalization and European integration processes that cannot be done without the knowledge of the language, understanding the principles of construction of European societies and of professional training exchange”, said the Dean, adding that free and motivated people is the main precondition for the existence of a truly free and successful country.

The Director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, Dr. Stefan Hülshörster noted that during the study, students were able to listen to numerous lectures delivered by invited German experts in law, who after returning home, highly appreciated rave reviews the level of knowledge of Ukrainian students.

“After graduation, you become responsible for your own country, its legal system and its development. So it is you who should make every effort for Ukraine to in practice become a strong European country where there is rule of law”, said Stefan Hülshörster addressing the graduates.

“It is important that now when Ukraine is going through difficult period you are  willing to learn German Law, adopt European standards and demonstrate a willingness to bear a positive change for our country”, said the Vice Rector.

There were 12 graduates this year. The most successful among young lawyers was Yuriy Pikh, who received a monthly stipend to visit any German university on his choice. Other graduates will be able to participate in the summer School of Law in Germany in July and will also get the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through comparison with the national law of the European countries, especially Germany.

After the official presentation of certificates, one of the first graduates of the School, Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry for European Integration Nataliya Boyko addressed the participants. In particular, she spoke about the prospects of the participation in the project and encouraged students to be active in education and building careers.

“From the first day when you finish University, all the knowledge in your life will be paid. Now, studying at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, you can enjoy free and invaluable resource: the opportunity to gain professional knowledge that will attend you in further professional and personal life. If you have the opportunity to get additional education in one of the European universities – just do it, but always come back to Ukraine, because there’s a need for you here and this is here that you have the opportunity to fully realize your potential”, appealed to the students Nataliya Boyko.

Let us remind that the Center of the German Law at the Law Faculty of the University was established in 2010 in cooperation with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation. A parallel study of German law started in the second semester of the 2010-2011 academic year for the students of Faculties of Law and International Relations. Lecturing is provided by professors from leading universities in Germany who teach subjects from different branches of German law.
