This year, the Department of Tourism at the Faculty of Geography of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University together with international tourist operators “Mouzenidis Travel”, “Calypso Tour UA” and “Ideas & Journey Travel” organized international internships for students of the specialties “Tourism” and “Hotel and restaurant business” in the most popular countries of summer outbound tourism – Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria. In particular, students got a chance to practice in famous tourist complexes and get acquainted with the features of the tourist service at the popular resorts of the maritime European countries.
In Greece, students have their internship in Heraklion and Rethymnon (Crete Island). They carry out the duties of transfermen and work mainly with tourist groups from Poland. Transferman is an authorized representative of the tour operator, whose duties include the meeting of foreign tourists, clarification of their data and work associated with the transportation of tourists from the airport to the hotel. Also, the duty of students is to familiarize tourists with all the necessary information – from specific practical to general information about the country.
In Bulgaria, students are trained in Varna, Burgas, Nessebar, as well as in the resort complex “St. Konstantin and Elena “. Trainees carry out the duties of transfermen, hotel guides, assistants of hotel guides, and work with groups of tourists from all over the world.
In the framework of the same program, students of the University are trained in the tourist-hotel complexes of the most famous resorts of Turkey – in Belek, Kemer, and Alanya. The trainees carry out the duties of transformation, work in the international team of hotel guides, assist the hotel guides, serve groups of tourists from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic, etc. Their duties include service at the hotel and leisure facilities.
All the work of students of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University is aimed at providing a comfortable rest for tourists and at the implementation of additional excursions, tours and other services that are not included in the price of the main tour. According to the organizers of the internship, it promotes the growth of the prestige of the profession of the organizer of tourist services, tourism manager and confirms the standard of quality of service provision in the leading tourist countries of the world.
