Within the working visit to Lviv the General Consulate of Romania in Chernivtsi city Eleonora Moldovan met with the students of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv on April 7, 2017.

During the meeting the diplomat briefly told about the cultural and historical affinity of Ukraine and Romania, the perspectives and priorities of developing bilateral relations between the countries as well as she greeted the youth with the historical decision of the European Parliament – to cancel visa requirements for the citizens of Ukraine when crossing the EU border.

“The European Parliament has recognized your efforts, – Eleonora Moldovan appealed to the students of the University, – as you, the youth, have demonstrated to the whole world your aspiration to live in the democratic society and adhere to European values”.

The Romanian diplomat considers the values of the democratic society to be the key factor for the further Ukrainian – Romanian dialogue. In her words, after the Revolution of Dignity the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Romania have begun to develop actively and now this fact makes possible to speak about the comprehensive interstate cooperation.

“We are peoples-neighbors who have the extensive common border. The Romanian diplomacy believe that our communication should proceed on the basis of mutual respect for the historical past and our national features but with the focus on common values”, – Eleonora Moldovan noted, expressing her belief that in the process of deepening the cooperation, first of all, it is necessary to take into account what unites states but not what can obstruct the dialogue.

In addition, the diplomat emphasized that the Romanian people believed in the successful future of Ukraine and aspired to see our state in the European structures.

“Thank you for everything you have done to start real social and political changes in Ukraine as well as develop our good neighborhood actively”, – the General Consulate of Romania noted appealing to the students of Lviv University.

The Romanian diplomat also urged young people to be active in establishing relations with her country and cooperate with the Ukrainian community of Romania.
