The information day of the “Horizon 2020”, the largest framework program of the European Union for the financing of science and innovation took place in the Mirror Hall of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv on September 20, 2017.
At the event, organized by the National Contact Point at the University of Lviv, reports were presented to highlight the concept of the program “Horizon 2020” in Ukraine and a list of practical steps for participation in thematic projects, which were set up at the University. (Oksana Zaremba is the Chairman of the NCP “Horizon 2020”).
The participants got acquainted with the main thematic blocks of relevant projects of the Work Program 2016-2017 in line with the directions: “Future and New Technologies” and “Inclusive, Innovative and Smart Societies” (Oksana Butkovska, Lesia Harasym), as well as received practical step-by-step advice on the conditions for participation in the competitions on the experience of the NCP “Actions of Maria Curie for the Development of Skills, Training and Careers” of National University Polytechnic of Lviv (Halyna Lazko, Chairman of the NCP).
The organizers also informed the participants of the event about other programs of the European Commission for Education, Science and Business (Erasmus + COSME, European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI)) as an alternative opportunity to gain professional experience in cooperation with the European Union (Natalya Faryna).
Ukraine became an associate member of the “Horizon 2020” program in 2015, which gave Ukrainian scientists equal status with their European partners. The main objectives of the “Horizon 2020” program are to make Europe an attractive place for top-notch scholars, to foster innovation and competitiveness of European industry and business, and to address the most pressing issues facing contemporary European society.
