The Rector of the University met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Ukraine

On February 22, 2017 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia in Ukraine Nataša Prah visited the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

During the meeting with the Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, the Vice-Rector for Research, Teaching and International Cooperation Mariya Zubrytska and representatives of the Faculty of Philology, the diplomat stressed that Slovenia absolutely supports Ukraine in the struggle for the territory integrity and it is ready to promote reforms in our country. According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Ukraine, today it is important for her country to deepen relations with Ukraine on the cultural, diplomatic and economic levels.

Therefore, Nataša Prah expressed her gratitude to Lviv University for the promotion of the development of Slovenia studies in Ukraine and declared the support for the initiatives aimed at deepening relations between the countries.

The Rector Volodymyr Melnyk stressed that the Slavonic languages in general and the learning of the Slovenian language in particular were one of the important areas of the work of Lviv University. The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is the only higher educational establishment in Ukraine where all Slavonic languages are taught.

Volodymyr Melnyk also thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Ukraine for the support given by her country to Ukraine as well as for the assistance of the Embassy in teaching the Slovenian language at the University.
