The Rector of the University, Volodymyr Melnyk, met with a professor of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, NATO advisor of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, Bogusław Pacek

On November 28, 2017, the Rector of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, met with the NATO advisor of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, a professor at the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, Bogusław Pacek.

During the meeting, they discussed the prospects of cooperation between the University’s scientists and Polish and other European scientists in solving the most important issues of defense and security in Ukraine and the EU.

In particular, Professor Bogusław Pacek announced the initiative to establish mutually beneficial cooperation, the main objective of which would be a positive representation of Ukraine in the world. According to him, now our state is extremely interesting for the global community, but still, average Europeans know quite little about the main achievements of Ukraine, its culture, and distinctive features.

Volodymyr Melnyk and Bogusław Pacek emphasized the need for cooperation in the field of defense capabilities of Ukraine and security in Europe. Thus, Volodymyr Melnyk expressed his gratitude to the guest for NATO’s assistance for Ukraine and stressed that Lviv University is a scientific institution, which promotes the implementation of European values in key areas of our country’s life. Bogusław Pacek pointed out that due to the cooperation with foreign higher educational establishments, as well as with bodies representing NATO, the scientists of Lviv University would be able to take a more active part in the discussion and solution of the key problems modern society had faced.

Therefore, the parties agreed upon joint research activities, the participation of scientists of the University in conferences held in the EU, cooperation in the preparation of scientific publications, etc.
