Information on the thesis

Thesis for a Candidate degree in economic sciences, on specialty 08.00.03 – Economics and Management of the National Economy. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Lviv, 2016.

The thesis investigates the nature and components of the concept of sustainable development, reviews economic paradoxes of sustainable development due to the technological ways, present classification of terms and schools, and analyzes the contribution of each of the areas to the formation of sustainable development principles.

The thesis presents analysis of national and international approaches to the development of indicators of sustainable development, to strategy formation and implementation of sustainable development of territories.

Based on the organizational and strategic analysis, the scheme of integration of indicators for sustainable development to the economic development strategy of the region was developed.

Theoretical and methodological aspects of the integration of sustainable development indicators in the economic development strategy for the region have been studied, and practical recommendations provided to improve the effectiveness of planning for sustainable development of the region and locally. Conceptual and categorical apparatus improved.

Using multivariate analysis methods (weighted indexes) four Sustainable development indices have been built (in “diamond” format) calculated and test measured in 2014-2015.

The thesis proves that the parameters proposed of each of the proposed sustainability indices allow to analyze the dynamics of the key indicators of sustainable development of the territory (from the local to regional levels), identify key trends in social, economic and environmental development of the territory.

The thesis argues that sustainable development indicators are related to the question of balance and sustainable development in the area. It is found that the output values of the threshold beyond the optimal zone of each respective behavior strategy or guidelines leads to the disrupted balance of the system in general.

Using multivariate weighted analysis methods, the research formulates priorities of sustainable development of the local initiative group management level and conducts comparative analysis in territorial municipalities.

In order to improve planning of sustainable development of territorial units, the research develops recommendations for the introduction of elements of evaluation of sustainable development as part of the strategy of economic development of the region.

For practical use of the developed system of indicators of sustainable development, the thesis develops a model for three-dimensional coordinate system and, to allow consideration of measuring results of ranking in putting in the total index points, defines a method of calculating the correction coefficients to the expert points to each meter.

The thesis states that the implementation of the above proposals to improve the basis for forming a system of indicators of sustainable development of the area will contribute to the development of effective economic-organizational mechanism that covers the objectives, methods, features, tools and economic management, and serves as an important factor in the quality of structural transformation of the national economy in the direction of implementing sustainability policies.

The thesis analyzes the approaches to the formation of regulating sustainable development, the necessity of developing appropriate criteria, parameters and indicators of sustainable development.
