Annotation

Dissertation is devoted to showing ideological transformation of Zhinka
(«Woman») magazine in conditions of transition from totalitarian Soviet society to
the construction of an independent Ukrainian state on the basis of sovereignty,
patriotism, democracy and pluralism.
Gender ideologems, characteristic of the totalitarian and democratic types of
society, were revealed as a paralinguistic method for the transfer of evaluation
information in the publications of the main Ukrainian women’s magazine for its
almost century-long existence: «Kommunar of Ukraine» (1920s), «Komunar of
Ukraine» (1930s.), «Radianska zhinka» («Soviet Woman», 1946-1991), «Zhinka»
(«Woman», 1991-2017).
The main problematic and thematic lines and the genre palette of the
magazine «Zhinka» («Woman») are studied. The genesis of the female subculture,
its reflection in universal and specialized printed publications, as well as typology
of periodicals are traced. The general and distinctive features in the conceptualism
of the women’s periodical in authoritarian, totalitarian and democratic types of
society are elucidated.
Key words: gender, women’s magazine, «Komunar of Ukraine», «Radianska
zhinka» («Soviet Woman»), «Zhinka» («Woman»), problematic, thematic, content,
comparative analysis, ideologeme, media text.
