The human-geographical premises and geospatial organization of the logistic sys-
tem of Western Region of Ukraine (WRU) are investigated in the dissertation.
The  definitions  of  the  concepts  of  “geologistics”,  “transport  geologistics”,
“distributive  geologistics”,  “territorial  logistic  system”,  “regional  logistic  system”,
“logistic hub” are clarified and improved. The semantic system of the conceptual and
terminological apparatus of geologistics is constructed.
The  human-geographical  premises  of  logistic  activity  in  WRU  are  generally
favorable.  The  region  has  an  advantageous  transport  and  logistic  position.  Most
of the subjects of transport logistics are concentrated in the largest cities, carry out
freight  road  transport  and  render  freight  forwarding.  The  subjects  of  distributive
geologistics in the region are warehouses, logistic centers, wholesale, exchange and retail
organizations, markets. The region is not sufficiently provided with warehouses.
Most of the markets are universal, and that is not conducive to the effective promotion
of  trade  flows.  The  region  as  a  whole  is  well  provided  with  the  main  transport
networks — rail and road, but there is a need of electrification of railways, improving
the quality of roads, et al.
The  main  centers  of  logistic  activity  of  the  region  are  the  city  of  Lviv,  oblast
centers, cities of the oblast importance and raion centers. The intensive passenger
and freight flows are typical for WRU both by rail and by road. A significant factor in
the functioning of these logistical flows is the presence in the region of international
transport corridors.
The forms of geospatial organization of logistic activity on the example of grain
logistics are identified; these are the points, centers and bushes.
The perspective cities to create the logistic hubs are identified. These are all oblast
centers, and also Brody, Rava-Ruska, Sambir, Stryi, Kolomyia, Rohatyn, Mukacheve,
Chop,  Kamenetz-Podilskyi,  Shepetivka,  Chortkiv,  Zdolbuniv,  Sarny,  Volodymyr-
Volynskyi, Kivertsi, Kovel.
An index of the regional logistic activity of the oblasts is proposed and calculated.
The maximum value of the regional logistic activity is determined for Lviv oblast,
medium — for Zakarpattia and Volyn oblasts, below the average — for Khmelnytskyi,
Ternopil,  Ivano-Frankivsk,  Rivne  oblasts,  and  low —  for  Chernivtsi  oblast.  The
multidimensional typology of the oblasts of the region is carried out according to the
main logistic indicators.
The complex of tasks of the optimization of logistic activity in region is solved. The
solution of the task of minimal tree on the graph allows to identify the optimal road
transport network in region, and also to determine the corresponding central node
that can claim the role of the transport and logistic center, in particular, in WRU —
the city of Rohatyn. The transport task of linear programming allows simulating road
transport of cement from four cement plants to the consumers of WRU to optimize
road transport. The centrographic analysis and the task of minimum the total distances
allow  investigating  the  optimal  allocation  of  distribution  centers  for  a  variety  of
products within the individual oblasts and the whole region.
The  perspective  directions  of  implementation  of  the  transport  and  distributive
logistic activity in WRU are associated with the integration of the logistics system of
the region and the created logistic flows to European and world ones, in particular,
through the improvement of the quality of the logistics infrastructure, the development
of intermodal and multimodal transport, the participation of the region in the projects
of Eurologistics, etc.
Keywords:  logistics,  transport  geologistics,  distributive  geologistics,  system,
flow, activity, region.
