OBTAINING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF STREPTOMYCIN-RESISTANT MUTANTS OF STREPTOMYCES GLOBISPORUS 3-1, THE PRODUCER OF ANTITUMOUR ANTIBIOTIC LANDOMYCIN E O.Gromyko, L.Basilia, N.Kirichenko, V.Fedorenko Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Hrushevskyi st.4,UA-79005 Lviv, Ukraine Resistance pattern of Streptomyces globisporus 3-1, the producer of landomycin E (LanE), to streptomycin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol and erythromycin has been studied. Spontaneous and induced with UV-rays Strr-mutants of the strain S. globisporus 3-1 differ in resistance level to Str ( ranges from 2,5 to 500 mg ). The level of LanE production in 53 Strr mutants is determined. Strr - mutants have been shown to possess enhanced LanE production, and it positively correlates with the level of resistance to streptomycin. Key words: antibiotic resistance, streptomycin, landomycin E, mutant
