Drosophila melanogaster mutants with different indexes of average life span were obtained in experiments on influence of X-rays and complex action of irradiation and some chemical agents. The hystological head sections of young (3-5 days) and old (30 days) adults were prepared and analyzed because it is known that the degenerative changes of the brain structures are the reasons of decreased vitality and reduced life span. No changes of brain structures of all analyzed mutants were found. This can be an evidence that the function of nervous system is reliable even under the influence of powerful mutant factors and it is ensured by strong reparative and regulatory systems.

Key words: Drosophila, aging degenerative changes, mutants, X-ray.
