Horse remains from the localities of the Northern Black Sea area (the Tamanian and Tiraspolian faunal complexes) are described. Morphological analysis of the materials revealed the presence of two forms of one-toed equids. Most fossils show the primitive morphology resembling representatives of phylogenetic line Equus (Allohippus) sussenbornensis. The second type of horse with larger protocone length and some progressive features determined as E. (Equus) mosbachensis.
