Instittue for Historical Research was founded in October, 1992 with the aim to speed reforms and system chages in Researching and Teaching History at Lviv National University. It was developed as an university-based research institute whose aafiliates are involved in both teaching and research. Institute’s activity is focused on Modern and Contemporary History of Ukraine and East Central Europe. New for Ukraine methods of Historical research were seccesfully introduced at the Institute.
The Institute has developed contacts with University research centers both in Western Europe and Northern America, such as the Universiy of Michigan Center for Russian and East European Studies, Harriman Institute (Columbia University), Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (University of Alberta), Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (Harvard University), Kennan Institute, Sodertorns hogskola University in Stockholm (Sweden).
From
1996 Institute started to publish its own academic journal “Modern Ukraine”.
(the last issue #7, year, 2002). The great part of the articles, reports and
reviews published in “Modern Ukraine” is dealing with Modern and
Contemporary History of Ukraine and East Central Europe.
Institute
