Rectors of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the University (Turkey) signed the agreement on academic cooperation

On April 26, 2016, during  the official visit of the delegation from the Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University (Turkey) to the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a meeting was held between the Rectors of two Universities —Volodymyr Melnyk and Irfan Aslan. Telat Yanik and Mariya Zubrytska, Vice-Rectors of the Ukrainian and Turkish Universities, and Svyatoslav Pylypchuk, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, also attended the meeting.
After discussing topical issues of launching the Ukrainian-Turkish academic cooperation, both parties signed a partnership agreement and a protocol of future cooperation in the framework of the academic mobility programme Mevlana.

The strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey is not a declarative statement but a process with specific measures that prove mutually beneficial relations of both countries at different levels. The successful cooperation of the Ivan Franko National University of  Lviv with Turkish Universities  gives grounds to speak about the prospects for its development in the future. “I am convinced that the experience of academic cooperation that we have with Sakarya and Bilecik Universities will help us in extending cooperation with other Turkish Universities,” Rector Volodymyr Melnyk said.
The Rector of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University expressed his gratitude to Ukrainian colleagues for the hospitality and friendly atmosphere of the meeting and expressed hope for mutual support of the initiatives of academic communities of both Universities. Irfan Aslan also remarked that Agri University is actively developing cooperation with Universities and academic institutions in Central and Eastern Europe within the Erasmus+ and Mevlanа academic exchange programmes.

The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is already a partner of the programme Mevlana with the Selcuk University in Turkey. Moreover, our University also cooperates with Universities of Istanbul, Sakarya and Bilecik, with the Ukrainian-Turkish cultural center Syaivo, and from now on with Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University.
