University young researchers will obtain registered educational grants to commemorate the Revolution of Dignity events and honor the feat of the Heroes of Ukraine – Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

Registered educational grants to commemorate the Revolution of Dignity events and honor the feats of the Heroes of Ukraine –Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred are assigned to 21 young scientists. The order was posted on the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine website. Two researchers of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University are among the grant-holders.

Thus, according to the order, the Yuri Popravka Scholarship was awarded to Nazariy Pokhodylo, Doctor of Sciences ( Chemistry), a leading researcher at the Department of Organic Chemistry. The Roman Guryk Scholarship will be awarded to Taras Maliy, Assistant Professor of the Experimental Physics Department, Faculty of Physics, Candidate of Science (Physics and Mathematics).

Both grant-holders, in addition to significant scientific achievements, have displayed courage and heroism standing in opposition to the Russian aggressor. In particular, Nazariy Pokhodylo, being the Revolution of Dignity participant, postponed his doctoral studies to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty. He took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donets’k and Luhans’k oblasts. For his achievements in discharge of duty, he was awarded a Chief of General Staff – Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Honorary Badge “For military service achievements” of the First-class; “ Anti- Terrorist Operation Participant” Badge, “ Blood for Ukraine” Device, President of Ukraine Award “ For  Participation in Anti-Terrorist Operation” and  accelerated promotion of grade hike “Captain”. He was wounded, but he remained in the service until his subdivision was brought to recovery.

Taras Maliy, while analyzing the first years of the war and the numerous casualties suffered by the Ukrainian Army due to poor medical care, has competed a training based at medical battalion “Hospitaller”. After that he served the rotation as battalion paramedic of the “Hospitaller” Battalion in the zone of Allied Forces Operation. After the rotation he realized that he was heading in the right direction and tactical medicine would give him an opportunity to fulfill his potential and help Ukrainian soldiers to protect themselves and stand against the Russian aggressors.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Registered educational grants to commemorate the Revolution of Dignity events and honor the feats of the Heroes of Ukraine –Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred were established to honor the heroism of the Heroes who defended democratic values, human rights and freedoms, national interests of our state and its European choice.
